Frequently Asked Questions

PROCEDURES (continued...)

BREAST AUGMENTATION

What size is best for me?

That will be discussed during your consultation. Overall unless a patient directs me otherwise, I try my best to give women the most natural look possible. A bigger bust line without looking “fake.”

What will I look like after my surgery?

The best way to get an idea of what you’ll look like after your procedure is to do the following: go to a mirror and hold up a magnifying glass in front of your breasts. Overall, without a breast lift being performed, the look you see is what you can expect.

What kind of implants are there and how are they placed?

There are two kinds on implants, salt water and silicone. In my view, the silicone implants have a more natural feel. They can be placed either above or below the chest muscles through incisions that are either placed in the lower breast crease or around the nipple. Which placement area is best for you depends on how much breast tissue you have to start with (i.e. the smaller your normal breasts the more likely you will have to have them placed below the chest muscles to “hide” the implants and get a more natural look.)

What happens after my surgery?

You will wear a surgical bra for about a week and a small Velcro strap which is worn on the upper chest to keep the implants from rising. You can also expect that your breast will be slightly firm and sore for a week or two until the skin surrounding the implants stretches to accommodate them.

How long will my implants last?

Your implants will not last forever. Normally they last anywhere from 8 to 15 years. However they have a lifetime guarantee. They can be replaced for free by the manufacturer (i.e. you will not have to buy the new implants) and they will also give you some money to offset the cost of the second procedure.

EYELID SURGERY

What causes eyelid bags?

Bags are actually pockets of fat that begin to sag as you get older. The surgery removes the bags.

How long will I be black and blue?

Anywhere from a week to two weeks there may be some discoloration and swelling. Women can apply make up over the wounds after about one week.

Where are the scars?

The incisions are placed beneath the eyelashes on the lower lids and in the eyelid creases on the upper lids. They heal beautifully. No one should know that you ever had the surgery.
